Jam Of Tha Day: Monday 4th July 2011

Santana - One With The Sun

Continuing on from the happiness that radiated the sixth mixtape, today's jam is from one of the many underrated albums from Santana. Almost feeling like a spin off/continuation from Caravanserai (1972) which was a radical departure from the salsa infusion rock sounds that helped bring the band to worldwide acclaim, Borboletta ranks as one of my favorite albums purely because of the lengthy guitar solos, the album's consistent sound (which some other albums seem to be just a collection of songs) whereas this focuses on a theme & runs with it.
One with the Sun is a beautiful climax to the first half of the album. Boasting jaw-dropping guitar playing by Carlos Santana, a groove which evolves from jazz fusion into a straight up funk workout. The song just like the rest of the album is uplifting & i guarantee will put a smile on your face in any bad circumstance! This album boasts several stand out tracks like: Mirage, Practice What You Preach & Life is anew which for me are some of the best songs they ever created. Check this out underrated album if you can!
